The opening game of the competition will be played on the 20th of June 2024 and the final is scheduled to be held on 14 July 2024. Defending Champions Argentina and Canada will play the opening game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
A total of 32 matches will be played throughout the tournament including a third-place playoff to decide the 3rd best team of the tournament. Copa America Qualified Teams
This tournament will be played by 16 teams (10 from CONMEBOl and 6 from CONCACAF). All 10 teams from CONMEBOL automatically qualified for the tournament while the remaining 6 teams qualified through the 2023-24 CONCACAF Nations League.
CONMEBOL Teams: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela
CONCACAF Teams: Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, United States, Canada, and Costa Rica.
What is its Format?
For these 16 qualified teams, a draw was held at the James L. Knight Center in Miami on the 7th of December 2023. Teams were placed in 4 pots based on their rankings. From each pot, a team was drawn to make a group of 4 teams.
Through the draw, all 16 teams were divided into 4 groups. Each group consists of 4 teams. Every team will play a single game against their grouped teams. In this way, every team will play 3 group games.
From each of the 4 groups, the top 2 teams will qualify for the Quarter-Finals. All knock-out round matches will be played in single-leg.
Groups of the Competition
Defending Champions Argentina are in Group A with Canada, Peru, and Chile. Peru and Chile qualified directly and Canada qualified through CONCACAF Nations League.
Brazil are in Group D with Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica. Host nation United States and Uruguay are in Group C with Panama and Bolivia.
